As part of Black History Month, we have celebrated the children’s home learning projects in Year 2 and taken part in an African Dance Workshop.
Many of us have felt incredibly inspired by the work of our class and the achievements of their chosen people. We have enjoyed poetry from Maya Angelou; learning about the first black British train driver Wilston Samuel Jackson- (his plaque is in King’s Cross!); Queen Nanny of Jamaica who fought proudly and defiantly against oppression and the ever so talented- the late Pele- to name just a few.
To kick start- (quite literally) our Thursday this week, we enjoyed learning some “African dance”. The Year 2s had a lot of fun.
