During our R.E lesson today the Reception children were visited by a mysterious shepherd called Baaa-rnabus. Baaa-rnabus had come to teach the Reception children about the Bible and a special type of story called a Parable.
The Reception children first learnt about Parables – what they are, who shared them and why. Then they looked at the Parable of the Lost Sheep which required some of the children to act as different characters. Afterwards, we discussed which part of the story was our favourite and what the message of the story was.
During independent exploration the children then went on to paint their own sheep which we promptly put on display in the classroom. All in all, it was an enjoyable and interesting carpet session which included new learning and encouraged the children to show off their drama skills.
Lots of Friday fun!
