What a full on week of wonderful curriculum!

We have explored our incredible Victorian artefacts and learnt how technology from the Victorian period has changed. We also used our scientific understanding of materials to describe the objects.

“Metal conducts heat so it’s suitable because an iron needs to be hot.” Salemvie

We looked at a Victorian toothbrush, a Turkish lamp similar to the one Florence Nightingale would have had and nurses’ outfits; 19th century and modern.

We also had the pleasure of Jan- an art teacher and artist, coming in and delivering two workshops over two days where the children developed their drawing skills. Jan reinforced the idea that we can create wonderful art despite sometimes feeling that mistakes have been made. We drew from imagination and observation and every child in Year 2 created a “display worthy” piece of work… so, Year 2 is having a make over- thank you children!
