Year 3 created their own canopic jars this week in art, having designed them and made prototypes already. They first needed to mould their jars using the pinch and smooth method. They then made the head and needed to use the correct proportions to ensure it would fit nicely on top of the jar. They used cross hatching and mortar to stick the facial features on top of the head. Canopic jars were used by the Ancient Egyptians to store the Pharaoh’s body part parts after death. Next week, we will paint them.
