This week, Year 4 went to the National Gallery to view an exhibition about Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, known as Caravaggio. He was an Italian painter active in Rome for most of his artistic life. The painting we viewed was called ‘The Martyrdom of Saint Ursula’ (1610, Gallerie d’Italia, Naples). This is the first time in 20 years, that the painting has come to London. Whilst we were there we saw painting by Van Gogh, Seurat and Canaletto.
