Dead, alive or never lived?

That is the question the Year 2s are asking.

But most importantly… how do we know?

We recognised that trees are plants and they are alive. Their seeds show us that they can  reproduce just like other living things.

We read a wonderful story all about the life of an acorn; the seed of the mighty oak.

Ask your children how they know something is alive.

Take them on a nature walk, or ask them questions as you walk along the pavement.

Does it move by itself? Does it get rid of waste? Can it reproduce? Does it grow?
