Year 2 have enjoyed writing up their information texts in English. They have written reports about London through the years. They wrote under the subheadings: London in 1666, During the Great Fire, After the Fire and London Today.
Year 2 developed their abilities to change the tense they wrote in. They focused on past tense, past progressive tense and present tense. We paid close attention to the changing verbs.
We explored ambitious vocabulary, most of which they recalled from their history lessons.
We also looked at starting our sentences with interesting adverbial phrases and expanding our sentences using conjunctions.
What I enjoyed most about the process is how the Year 2s are now reading their work out loud through the publishing process and checking it all makes sense; after all, they know best when it comes to 17th century London knowledge!
