Year 2 have been carrying out field work in Geography.

We started with our enquiry question: Is the weather forecast always accurate?

The children spent time in small groups outside measuring temperature, rainfall, wind strength and direction and also classifying the type of clouds (if any) they saw.

Back in class we compared our collected results to the forecast we printed out from the internet at the end of last week.

This process has not only improved our understanding of weather patterns in the UK and the seasons, but reinforced our geographical understanding of the UK, its capital cities and refined our measuring skills.

Next week we will conclude our observations which have been put into bar charts and line graphs.

At Home: Compare regional temperatures with your children at home. Remind them to count from the smallest number to the biggest number to find out how much warmer or colder a place is.
