Year 2 have LOVED our maths lessons this week.
We have been looking at groups of equal amounts.
First, we decided whether groups were equal or unequal.
Then, we learnt to use repeated addition to find the total.
We continued to make lots of groups of equal amounts by using Numicon, bead strings, counters and unifix cubes.
The children have got so good at doing this, they can apply it to number problems such as this one: (Get them to do it at home)
There are 6 bunches of bananas with 3 bananas in each bunch. How many bananas are there in total?
First, they draw their groups.
Then, they put the amount in each group.
Finally, use repeated addition to find the answer.
