This week, year six have been focussing on the benefits of warming up before playing sport. We all know that warming up our muscles before we begin exercising is important but have we ever asked ourselves why?

During our P.E. session we discussed how a good warm-up before a workout widens your blood vessels, ensuring that your muscles are well supplied with oxygen. It also raises your muscles temperature for the best flexibility and efficiency. By slowly raising your heart rate, the warm-up also helps minimize stress on your heart and reduce potential injuries. Most importantly, a good warm up can be fun and challenging.
