Our unit of learning this term is Space. We learnt about the planets, stars, and most importantly, the Moon! We discovered that astronauts wear special suits and travel in rockets to explore outer space. The two very special astronauts that we learnt about are Neil Armstrong and Helen Sherman. They both traveled to the Moon. The children learnt about the importance of their job. But they’re not just reading books or watching videos—they’re taking on physical challenges to help them become real-life astronauts! After our carpet session, we went outside and the children took on an obstacle course. They crawled through a tunnel, climbed over soft blocks (representing the rocky terrain of the Moon), and balanced on beams as if they were walking on the lunar surface. They even practiced “lifting off” by running fast and pretending to board a rocket, feeling the rush of excitement as they blast into space! When they finished all of the challenges, they qualified as astronauts and got a badge.
