Year 2 made carrot and coriander soup in D.T this week.
We learnt about root vegetables and how they grow. We learnt about herbs.
We discussed the importance of good hygiene whilst cooking and demonstrated this by using antibacterial spray on our tables and washing our hands with soap and water.
We learnt that cooking healthy food supports a healthy lifestyle.
All the ingredients cost under £5 for so much delicious, healthy food! We realised this was:
Cheaper than fast food.
Tastier than fast food.
Healthier than fast food.
….Although some weren’t entirely convinced by the coriander to be honest!
Most importantly we realised that making fresh food is fun and easy.
We can get recipes from the internet or recipe books.
We used BBC Good Food for our recipe.
So now you have your little helpers in the kitchen, why not try out some tasty recipes for yourselves!
Fantastic to see teachers encouraging young children to cook and eat healthily. Keep up the good work St Mary & St Pancras!
