For the past few science lessons, the year 5 students have been learning about the force of gravity and how it is measured in the physical world. They were able to explain that unsupported objects fall towards the Earth because of the force of gravity acting between the Earth and the falling object and conduct a series of experiments that would support this hypothesis. This week, we were looking at friction, we measured various difference shoes to see which ones would create the most friction when pulled along the carpet. The most impressive aspect of our children’s learning was their ability to record and interpret data based on their findings when using force meters. First we recorded our results on a table and then on a line graph.
