This term, year six began to read Michelle Magorian’s timeless novel Goodnight Mr. Tom – a book that has been beloved for generations. As a class, we have discussed the emotions of an evacuee named Willy and began to record our ideas that will be used for our creative writing.
Through the medium of drama, character mind maps and poetry, our students will be immersed in a series of discussions and short writing tasks so that they will be able to comprehend and appreciate the transformation of a timid evacuee and an adult who had many life experiences cut short due to unfortunate circumstances.
