Materials Needed:

Slices of white bread
Small cups or bowls
Food colouring (various colours)
Milk
Clean paintbrushes or cotton buds
Baking tray and toaster (optional, for finishing)

After pouring a small amount of milk into each cup, we added a few drops of food colouring and mixed well. Each child got a slice of bread and a paintbrush.

The children were encouraged to dip their brush into the coloured milk and make marks on their slice of bread. They could create patterns, dots, lines, or even pictures.
We talked about the colours they used and how the milk soaked into the bread.
Once they finished their designs, we toasted the bread to set the colours and let them eat their creations as a fun snack!

This activity helps to develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination and encourages creativity and self-expression.
It also supports early mark-making skills, preparing the children for writing.
