This week, our Reception children have been celebrating Safer Internet Week! The theme for this year is Too Good to be True? Protecting Yourself and Others from Online Scams.

To kick off the week, the children attended a fantastic assembly on Monday, led by Jason! This introduced them to important discussions about staying safe online.

Throughout the week, we explored the question: What should we do if we see something online that makes us feel worried, nervous, or upset? The children shared their thoughts and ideas, helping them develop a strong understanding of how to respond in these situations.

We also delved into the topic of online scams—learning how to recognize them and what to do if we encounter one. To support these discussions, the children engaged with a variety of Online Safety Resources, including videos designed for young learners.

If you would like to continue the conversation at home, here are some useful resources:

Of course, Safer Internet Week isn’t just about staying safe—it’s also about celebrating all the amazing things we can do with technology! The children loved exploring the iPads and Interactive Whiteboard as part of their continuous provision, using technology to enhance their learning through play.

We are so proud of our Reception children for their enthusiasm and engagement in this important topic! Keep up the great work, everyone!
