Year 2 have had numerous lessons this week about keeping themselves safe.

We discussed how to prevent fires in the home; what to do if there is one and how calling 999 could save lives. The children loved unlocking secret codes to remind them “Always know your escape route!”

Miss Harrison provided a fantastic hands on first aid workshop; slings and bandages to the rescue.

We discussed internet safety and how important it is to stop, close and talk to an adult if things on the internet are stumbled upon that don’t seem right.  We read a cautionary tale of Goldilocks which reminded children of the dangers and future complications of posting online content.

Our mental health workshop reminded children that we have the ability to calm ourselves down. Breathing deeply is an incredibly powerful tool to calm us down and prevent us from regretful actions. Discuss “handy breathing” with your children at home.

Our drama workshop with Big Foot Arts got the children thinking about what it means to prevent hurtful behavior. We can: Be brave; Be kind; Talk nicely: Think calmly.
