This week we have had Ellie from the Francis Crick Institute informing the Year 2 children all about… germs!!
Yes… that’s right- germs. We all became scientists as we had our own microscopes and began exploring our classroom environment in detail. Our carpet became wriggly worms (not really of course!) and our hands became millions of cells.
We looked at enlarged germs in the form of blue toys – but there was no fooling our Year 2s, “Germs don’t have eyes!” they cried.
After Ellie modelled with glitter how germs can stay on hands if we don’t wash with soap, the Year 2s were quick to remind her that 20 seconds should be enough time scrubbing to get rid of them.
Who knew germs could intrigue us so much?!
