This week in Reception we have been practising listening to and telling stories. We have had two formal storytelling sessions led by Jason, during which the children listened to a story and practised joining in with rhyming, repetition, actions and gestures. The children impressed me with their enthusiasm, listening and attention throughout.
Afterwards, the children were encouraged and supported to create their own stories orally and through writing. The children practised talking through their story and then were provided with booklets on which to write it all down. The children were very enthusiastic and we had lots of writing almost every day!
