Reception looked at the Christian parable of the Wise and Foolish Builders today.
The children first listened to the story and then discussed it’s meaning. Including answering questions such as:
- What did Jesus ask the crowd before he started to tell the story?
- Where did the wise builder build his house? What happened to his house when the storm came?
- What about the foolish builer?
- Do you think the rock represents good or bad choices? What about the sand?
- What do you think this story is trying to teach us?
Afterwards, there were lots of activities linked to this story in the continuous provision. The children had the choice of sorting pictures into ‘good’ or ‘bad choices, building a house that could withstand a storm or drawing their dream house.
