This week Year 5 went to the Francis Crick Institute to do some exciting Science workshops. Our first experiment was learning about how catalysts can make a chemical change happen. We had some hydrogen peroxide and we added some food colouring and some soap, then we added our catalyst and saw the amazing chemical reaction take place! We were trying to prove that O2 and H2O would be produced from hydrogen peroxide. Then we got into groups and followed some detailed instructions to carry out our own experiments. We were trying to work out, based on the properties of each powder, which one was cornflour. Finally, we learnt about electrical circuits and what factor can affect the power of the different elements. We are all amazing scientists in Year 5!
